Wow! that was close...and RETREAT!!

Posted on Fri 27 Aug 10

So then, that was a right old close shave, a brush with the law, collars felt etc. Someone at STV heard about us doing some musics to the Weir’s way and fully fingered us so to speak. Thankfully it all ended amicably and Drew is doing all the porridge while we sit in our Crystal Temple sucking on cold Dr Peppers. Actually the STV guy seemed pretty reasonable and just asked us to get in touch with them in advance of any future performances of said classic.
barry.

So, on to next stuffs. On the 28th of August 2010, yup, tomorrow! We are playing a newly penned exclusive epic, at lovely RETREAT with lots of other scrummy Scottish musical acts. We also intend to drip a wee tune with Sare Knee as a kind of segue or summit.

Anyhoo, just a quickie.

End.

HERE IS WHERE

Posted on Wed 31 Mar 10

In full tweeds and woolly bunnets, the “DIFFICULT QUARTET” aka 7VWWVW became a wholesome and beautiful QUINTET with help from wonderful Wounded Knee. In the unique and delightful surroundings of Whitehill School’s magnificent auditorium (Glasgow’s best kept secret?) we trekked across mountainous musical terrain in the company of friends, lovers, parents, unknowns and a MINISTER! All of whom share a mutual love…that of the topography of this tiny country. So poignantly caught by our hero Tom Weir in the dying embers of the ‘good old days’.

We don’t know if it was serendipity or some undisclosed genius which led us to this end but the sum total of music and word and picture was, even for those of us playing, AWE INSPIRING. A full-house of willing humans in steeply raked seats, a host of helpers and kind volunteers (from Glasgow’s Market Gallery and Platform) and a well-organised event led to the evening ending in RAPTUROUS APPLAUSE and back-slaps throughout. Not a moment of this would have happened had it not been for our new heroine Natalie Davidson who has since left Market Gallery for pastures new at Cryptic

The truth of the matter is that Tom Weir’s pure and simple lust for the landscape and uniqueness of Scotland is what drove this, he did it all already, we just chummed him back out there.

Get Rich Slow

With our musical inverted pyramid scheme where your savings both spiritual and literal will give the impression of unravelling whilst, in fact, building into a fortress.

That’s right, new videos on the website precede the 2010 onslaught of music, poetry, pictures and play.

We have new artists coming up and ridiculous drunkkasts and collaborative works and…well, just stay where you are and we’ll fill you in when it all happens,

Thanks to Wee Shiny for remembering to bring a video camera to the show.

Getting Married?

Posted on Mon 23 Nov 09

If you like our band 7VWWVW, you may wonder where we’ve been these last few months? Well, the answer is, we’ve been cooped up commune style exploring the world of OPM (other people’s music) in pursuit of the perfect WEDDING BAND for the marriage of our beloved numberthree and his delightfully insane WAG Haveabananaxana.

Presenting EXLOVER!

You need to sneak a look at one of the mpegs (by clicking the recently taken photo above) in order to fully understand the level of musicality and depth of emotion involved in such a riotous commitment. It was virtually a BED-IN.

While you are there, dig the other playlists and pay particular attention to Fuck Art Rock by Javelin who mean BUSINESS!!!

Also now posted is the Illustration film/soundtrack project Remnants of Joona wot 7VWWVW was involved with earlier in the year…dim the lights for that!

Okay, more excitement in the world of 7VWWVW will follow…..ACOUSTIC GUITAR MAMMAL?!?!?!?

Church Kittens

Posted on Mon 23 Nov 09

So after a monstrously productive start to 2009, the poor wee Kittens got caught up in the real world again and remain half way through recording this darn record, to begin again in the opening stratches of 2010…seems winter is the season best suited to making Kittens songs sing…no surprises there!

In advance of this exciting fast moving new development, The Kittens will sing some of their songs live in one of their spiritual homes: London’s Union Chapel, on Sunday the 6th of December, as outlined HERE.

If you wish to be in attendance for this festive drippy drip, please click the ‘contact’ button on the front page of this here website and drop us a wee email, that way we can add your name to the £5 guest list for the event and you get in the door for HALF PRICE!!

Keep very warm.

Under Yer Radar

Posted on Mon 28 Sep 09

Despite dedicating the last 4 weeks in their entirety to learning cover versions of songs for which our teenage selves would hate us in order to play them to a crowd of whisky sodden wedding-go-ers at the wedding of the year, our very own numberthree marrying the righteous love of his life Xana Maclean – we, the 7VWWVW have somehow found ourselves included in The Scotsman’s UNDER THE RADAR online bloggy thingy.

That’s so nice and makes us feel loved, a love like ours is love that’s hard to find. How could we let it slip away-ay? Have a wee read if you have a wee mo.

On his return to the real world, our numberthree will be quickly roped in and secreted in the lab so we can shuffle our fingers across a whole new set of combined notes, pursuing our second album which should be getting recorded in the year twentyten.

Our aim…to keep it more gully than Jonathan Livingstone?

7VWWVW remix FOUND

Posted on Tue 26 May 09

Many moons ago the members of seminal hash band 7VWWVW were invited to remix a piece of music by fellow townsmen FOUND. On receiving the choice of tunes we realised we had no inclination to remix as we are instrumentalists and, if not AFRAID of computers, certainly reticent to apply them as creative tools for music. As such, we decided to deconstrust the music and re-assemble it using our own cognitive skills to fill in the blanks. The results astounded us and made us feel like ACHIEVERS! So it is with delight that we can now announce the tune is available via Scotland’s own download club tentracks.
