Albaross is the musical alias of Scottish producer/ rapper/ general music chap, Ross Adamson. He has been making songs in various forms for the best part of the last decade. Albaross is so-called because ‘Alba’ means ‘Scotland’ in gaelic and Ross is from Scotland and also Ross means Ross and Ross’s name is, luckily, Ross. ‘Albaross’ also sounds somewhat like the word ‘albatross’, which is the name of a large bird aswell as being the subject of some memorable comic material used by lanky comedian John Cleese at Monty Python’s much famed concert in the Hollywood Bowl in 1982. Albaross is not really particulary interested in John Cleese nor Monty Python and his choice of name has absolutely nothing to do with them whatsoever. He would like to stress for the record that he does however, like Cleese’s later work, the short lived but mercurial, hotel-based situation comedy, Fawlty Towers (but feels strongly that the addition of his then wife Connie Booth as co-writer made it the phenomenon it has become.)
He’s as influenced by the work of cultural critic/ writer, Charlie Brooker or the comedy of Armando Iannucci as he is by the off-kilter rap of Anti-Pop Consortium or Company Flow. He is, at present making an album for Crystal Wish aswell as trying to get to grips with the absurdities of writing in the third person.
